Day 1- Sitka
Explore beautiful Sitka, the only community in Southeast Alaska that faces the open waters of the Gulf of Alaska. Visit fascinating sites that highlight the community's rich Alaska Native and Russian history. Embark for the winding narrows north of town while searching for sea otters, bears, whales, and other wildlife. Anchor for the evening in a protected body of water in Peril Strait
Day 2- Baranof Island
Navigate the remote northeastern coast of Baranof Island. This region includes many intimate coves and inlets, making it ideal for exploration. Walk a beautiful rainforest path to the natural hot spring pools of Baranof Warm Springs; relax in a steaming pool while enjoying your favorite beverage and savoring the stunning wilderness.
Day 3- Frederick Sound
View entertaining Steller sea lions on their Brothers Island haul-out while scouting for humpback whales in Frederick Sound. Experience the thrill of viewing wildlife from the skiff, a smaller vessel that will allow you to explore winding narrows of the Alaskan coastline. End the day in a remote, wilderness bay.
Day 4- Tracy Arm Fjord
Journey through the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness, a place the famed naturalist, John Muir, referred to as "a wild, unfinished Yosemite." Renowned for its pristine waterfalls, towering icebergs, and granite cliffs that rise 4,000 feet from the sea, this wilderness is widely considered one of the most scenic areas in the state. Take in stunning views of tidewater glaciers while kayaking among dramatic glacial fjords.
Day 5- Wilderness Day
Savor the serenity of raw wilderness on an unscripted day of Alaskan discovery. Dictated by the day's unique conditions, opportunities may include kayaking the coastline, landing on an unspoiled beach for a hike through an old-growth forest, or tracking along with a foraging bear from the safety of our skiff. Regardless of the activity, you'll experience the magic of the archipelago's remote coves and bays.
Day 6- Glacier Bay Natl. Park
Explore the wildlife-rich waters of Icy Strait, renowned for phenomenal humpback whale viewing. In the afternoon, sail into beautiful Glacier Bay National Park to begin your first day of park exploration. Unique opportunities include a beach trek near the Reid Glacier, a visit to the new Huna Tribal House, and rainforest trails surrounding Glacier Bay Lodge.
Day 7- Glacier Bay Natl. Park
Today, you will explore a remarkable fjord that extends for 65 miles, contains eight tidewater glaciers, and provides pristine habitat for a wide-array of wildlife, including both brown and black bears, wolves, mountain goats, sea lions, and humpback whales. The highlight for many is the Margerie Glacier, known for its dramatic calving displays.
Day 8- Departure
Disembark in Alaska's capital city of Juneau. Enjoy a private transfer to the airport to the airport to begin your journey home, or extend your trip with a stay in this charming town. Safe travels!
