Surrounded by a flowery outdoor terrace and white picket fence, it consists of a series of country-cottage rooms where you can try the unbeatable food and killer cocktails.
Explore: Mingle with the stars along the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where more than 2,000 of cinema’s biggest names are immortalised in pink terrazzo and glitzy gold lettering.
Relax: Griffith Park is a favourite haunt of LA urbanites in search of relaxation. Made famous by Rebel Without A Cause, the area is home to an observatory, an impressive planetarium and 53 miles of picturesque forest trails.
Shop: A trip to Los Angeles isn’t complete without a spot of shopping. For trendy clothes, head to The Grove mall, where stores include Madewell, Johnny Was and Anthropologie. And of course Rodeo Drive’s high-end boutiques.
Day Trip for the young "at heart": Leave the city behind and tour the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Then explore neighbouring CityWalk, a three-block entertainment, dining and shopping promenade with an indoor skydiving centre. Alternatively, channel your inner child at Six Flags Magic Mountain, a 260-acre park featuring rides, live shows and world-class rollercoasters.

Treat yourself to some well-deserved spa time, and be sure to try the divine dishes at Spago, created by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. In addition, the gorgeous islands of Molokai and Lanai are only a short ferry trip away, and well worth a visit. Another favorite of ours is Andaz Maui at Wailea and Four Seasons Resort Lanai.
Relax: Once a playground for Hawaiian royalty, Waikiki Beach is the most popular on the island of Oahu. Kick back on the buttery sands and soak up the sunshine or try your hand at surfing some gnarly waves.
Savour: The locals love to eat and a range of comfort food is on the menu. A favourite is the ‘plate lunch’, which consists of rice, macaroni salad and everything from Korean barbecue to beef teriyaki. Try the unique loco moco, a dish including a hamburger steak and egg over rice, covered in gravy. Cool off after your meal with a ‘shave ice’, a colourful snow cone served above ice cream or azuki beans. And be sure to frequent Mama’s Fish House on Maui for the savoury shrimp wonton and lobster roll.
