Get your gastronomic kicks on this food tour of Mexico. You’ll enjoy the very best Mexican cuisine liberally marinated in the finest wines and, of course, the most exclusive tequila. You’ll train your palate during an evening of wine tasting at Rivero Gonzalez and learn the secrets of authentic Mexican dishes on a private cooking class at Casa Jacaranda. We’ll spice things up with a visit to Teotihuacan to give you a flavour of ancient Mexico before taking you on a tour of a boutique vineyard. Discover how to blend the perfect tequila and then sample seafood fresh from the ocean as you snorkel, play golf, surf or fish on the Pacific Coast.
DAY 1 - Mexico City
We’ll be there to meet you from the airport and help you settle in comfortably to the St Regis Hotel. Your food tour of Mexico start here! Relax before your evening out sampling Mexico´s top wines at the Rivero Gonzalez wine boutique. With the sophisticated bouquets still lingering stroll through the beautiful tree-lined streets of Polanco to work up an appetite for dinner at one of the gourmet restaurants in the area. Includes: wine tasting (three wines) and private sommelier.
DAY 2 - Mexico City
Accompanied by two cooks you’ll walk into the Medellin market to experience local spices, cheeses, ice cream and single origin coffee from Chiapas. With the ingredients for your menu you’ll walk to Casa Jacaranda, a beautifully restored mansion. Your hands-on cooking lesson will introduce you to generations-old culinary secrets and techniques that will inspire your culinary creations. Work off your food with a walking tour of downtown historical Mexico City
DAY 3 - San Miguel de Allende
Today you’ll soak up the culture of San Miguel De Allende, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. En route, a stop at the Aztec ruins of Teotihuacan will shed light on the life and times of the ancient inhabitants of Mexico. Once settled at San Miguel de Allende, a local guide will take you on a tour of the city to see sights such as the famous Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.
DAY 4 - San Miguel de Allende
Start with a market tour before your cooking class shows you how basic ingredients can be used in creative and delicious ways. Hosted in Chef Paco Cardenas´ home, this is a hands-on lesson in preparing authentic Mexican dishes from scratch. Tie on an apron and get ready to start making salsas from different chilies and vegetables, tortillas and more.
DURATION: Total time is 6 hours. Market Tour is 1 ½ hours + class with seven recipes and lunch at Paco's home is 4 ½ hours / Class Available Mondays Only.
DAY 5 - San Miguel de Allende
Your day begins with a private guided visit to Atotonilco. In this Sistine Chapel of Mexico there are Mexican Baroque mural works adorning the walls. An exclusive visit to the Atotonilco Gallery is where you can discover the beauty of Mexican folk art. A delightful vineyard tour follows at Cuna de Tierra where you’ll learn how it produces 70,000 bottles of award-winning wine every year. Note: SIB Experiences at the Vineyards.
DAY 6 - San Miguel de Allende
As you transfer to the historic centre of Tequila you can probably guess what’s coming next! In a charming hotel just off the main square, don’t let the views of the iconic church of Santiago Apostol distract from your next mission. The secrets of a master tequilero are about to be imparted. Supervised by a blending expert you’ll create your own damauaja of tequila.
DAY 7 - Tequila
This morning on an exclusive tour of Tequila you’ll visit agave fields and harvest with real Jimadores. There will be a tasting at Tequila Fortaleza, where the most traditional process is still in use by a fifth generation tequilero. After a Jaliscan Lunch at the Municipal Market your tequilla knowledge will be brought bang up to date at La Tequilera, a modern boutique distillery of the legendary Fonseca Family.
DAY 8 - Tequila/Punta Mita
A short flight to Puerto Vallarta will be followed by a 45 minute drive to Punta Mita on the Pacific Ocean coast. Settle into your beautiful hotel and relax: it’s time to enjoy the beach.
DAYS 9 - 10 - Punta Mita
Punta Mita Days At Leisure. Relax on the white, sandy beaches with a glass of something cold or take a dip in the azure waters. If you fancy something a bit more energetic you can snorkel, play golf, ride the waves on a surfboard or fish to your heart's content under the Mexican Riviera’s sun.
DAY 11 - Punta Mita
With the delicious tastes of Mexico still tingling those tastebuds you’ve just got time to grab a few last-minute foodie souvenirs to take home with you.
